Fisher-Price Imaginext BIGFOOT the Monster Review and Giveaway-CLOSED

I remember when I was a kid and toys were pretty basic and not a whole lot of fun. I would find myself getting bored pretty easily but now days toys are so high tech and provide hours of fun and entertainment for kids and sometime adults like me, LOL. A good example of a great new high tech toy that is limitless in its fun is BIGFOOT the Monster by Fisher-Price Imaginext.

We were lucky to have received BIGFOOT and I am glad we did. He is a pretty cool toy that comes with a rechargeable 7.2 volt NiMH battery and battery charger as well as a remote control that requires two AA batteries. One of the cool features of BIGFOOT is the remote control has symbols on the buttons which show you what BIGFOOT will do when you push that button. BIGFOOT shows a lot of emotion by being happy, angry, and sleepy. He walks and talks, chews and burps (he remembers to say “excuse me”), throws a ball and exercises as well. Who doesn’t love a monster that burps and exercises? Also, BIGFOOT is recommended for children between the ages of 3 and 8.

Before we received this for review Shae starting hanging out with an imaginary monster friend who ate with us and went places with us but now that we have BIGFOOT he is Shae’s new real monster friend who eats with her and goes places with her.  My kids love that BIGFOOT seems so alive and is able to do so many different things with the push of a button. My kids are easily bored but not with this as it provides endless fun and laughter.

If you have a child on your holiday list make sure you check out BIGFOOT the Monster by Fisher-Price Imaginext as he is a must have for this holiday season.

You can win your very own Fisher-Price Imaginext BIGFOOT the Monster valued at $100.  All you have to do is tell me who this would be for if you win and what other Fisher-Price Imaginext product you think is really cool.

Free e-Books for the VTech V.Reader

In the recent months we had the pleasure of reviewing both the VTech MobiGo and the VTech V.Reader. These gadgets have been extremely popular in our house. Shae adores her MobiGo and she and Shaun fight over the V.Reader on a pretty regular basis. Hopefully our giveaway winners are enjoying their prizes as much as we are.

Recently VTech announced the availability of six FREE, downloadable e-Books, worth $30 for the V.Reader through VTech’s Learning Lodge download library.

VTech’s Learning Lodge is a free online tool that offers downloadable books, games, customized themes and avatars. Additionally, Learning Lodge allows parents to track their children’s achievement through a customized Progress Log which provides parents with an overview of how their child is progressing through key learning curriculum, all of which are age-appropriate. Online registration is easy and can be accessed by visiting: www.vtechkids.com/download.

I hopped on the other day and not only registered both units but downloaded new games for Shae and Shaun to enjoy. Be sure to have a SDCard handy as this is required to install anything onto the V.Reader. Don’t hesitate, get online and get your FREE E-Books today and further your kids entertainment and learning.

Costumes4Less $50 GC Giveaway-CLOSED

Shae immediately knew what she wanted to be for Halloween. From the first time I asked her she said Velma. Yes, Velma from Scooby Doo. You see, Shae is a Scooby Doo fanatic, just like the other kids were. Costumes4less offered us the chance to review their service and pick out a childrens costume, we picked VELMA obviously.

Ordering was easy and within a few hours we received our shipping information. Delivery was made in just a couple business days too. The Velma costume wasn’t expensive so we were able to get her a pirate costume also. She loves to play dress-up so this is just going into her custom wardrobe along with her brothers from his Halloween a couple years ago. They can now both walk around the house and yell ARGH!

Olive Barn for Garden Shopping and Wind Chime Giveaway-CLOSED

Music soothes the savage beast. It can at least bring some peace and calm to a stressful or hectic day. This is what my Music of the Spheres Soprano Chimes do for me. Sitting on my deck with the wind blowing, sun shining, drink in hand and the soothing musical sounds are a great way to wind down at the end of the week.

“These are professional grade, hand tuned wind chimes that are built to last. The sleek design of black, powder-coated, aluminum alloy tubing make these chimes outstanding in both sound quality and visual appeal. They are the only brand we carry at Olive Barn because no other brand meets the industry standards for tonal quality, sustain and durability. Best of all, these are made right here in the USA. Handcrafted in Austin, Texas by the talented artisans at Music of the Spheres®, Inc.”

I was given the opportunity another great item from Olive Barn. With a shop full of unique and eco-conscious garden goodies I was ecstatic when I opened up my Gypsy tuned wind chimes. We had the perfect spot near the sliding glass doors so that they can be heard inside also. Being on the end unit and having a field behind us gives us these great winds throughout the day. We are constantly being serenaded by the dingdong sounds.

A few weeks back Shaun and I were admiring wind chimes at a local shop and we realized we didn’t like the “tinkling” sounds that come from the smaller, lesser quality instruments. He picked out a wind chime very similar to the one received from Olive Barn. We ended up not purchasing it due to other purchases made that day. He’s very excited about having one now; he knows it makes his mommy happy.

Whether it’s a beautiful set of wind chimes or striking sun-catchers or seeds and bulbs for the garden Olive Barn has a mix of practical and indulgent gifts for yourself and others. Being a “green” business is also very important. Using only eco-friendly shipping materials whenever possible helps them make a positive impact on the world we all live in. They like this planet and they want to keep it around for as long as possible.

Shopping is fun and exciting at Olive Barn but winning is even better. Win Music of the Spheres Soprano Wind Chimes for yourself. Listen to the available tunings and tell me which you prefer.

Country Chic shopping at Plow and Hearth plus Giveaway-CLOSED

A welcoming room needs nice finishes before it can be really complete. This might mean curtains, candles or a colorful throw. My kitchen needed a great piece of artwork on the wall to bring it together; we found it at Plow and Hearth.

They don’t just stop though; Plow and Hearth also offer unique products for outdoor living, gardening and apparel options. Think of stepping into your favorite garden center and they’ve added a room of country chic accessories and furnishings; this is Plow and Hearth.

My picture is beautiful and works wonderfully with the green walls and wood and wrought iron furniture. When I opened It I was pleased how bright red the flowers were. This particular print is canvas wrapped so no need to look for the right size frame and incur additional costs. Literally unwrap and hang. It instantly added a warm feeling, something the kitchen was missing since moving in.

Fiskars Salsa Rain Barrel System with DiverterPro Review and Giveaway-CLOSED

Are you looking for a more natural way to collect water for your household garden and plants? Melinda and I were too and recently we were lucky enough to receive a Fiskars Salsa Rain Barrel System with DiverterPro.

The Fiskars Salsa Rain Barrel System with DiverterPro arrived just in time because at our house we have a full garden plus we have additional tomato and pepper plants in pots as well as herbs in a pot. We use a TON of water during the spring and summer months to keep all of our vegetables and herbs hydrated. Before receiving the rain barrel Melinda and I discussed ways we would collect rain water so we could use a more natural approach in our watering. We tried to leave the watering can out to collect rain which it was able to collect some but nowhere near enough to water everything.
Here are a few features of the Fiskars Salsa Rain Barrel System with DiverterPro then we will discuss the installation process.

Features

  • DiveterPro™ channels rainwater from the downspout into the rain barrel. When the barrel is full, the diverter channels the water back to the downspout and away from your home
  • Removable filter to capture debris and transparent door to see if cleaning is needed
  • Fits both standard downspout sizes.
  • Spice granite color
  • Holds 58 gallons
  • Barrel and cover made of recyclable, UV-treated, impact-resistant polyethylene
  • Integrated base provides clearance for filling watering cans
  • Flat-back fits snug to house
  • Rain barrel made in U.S.A.
  • Limited 3-year warranty

Ok, now on to the install process. I’m not a person who typically reads directions but I made sure I did this time so before you install the rain barrel and DiverterPro be sure to read the directions (it is in your best interest). You will need to make a few measurements and cuts to the rain downspout on your home and you only have one chance to do it right so please be sure to read the directions. Believe it or not it was pretty simple to install. The hardest part for me was getting the ground level for my rain barrel. I actually needed to go to Home Depot so I could pick up a few patio pavers to make a level surface. Other then that everything else was pretty straight forward. You will need a drill to drill a hole in the side of the rain barrel and also a saw to cut the downspout. The DiverterPro went on easy and installing the tube from the DiverterPro to the rain barrel was straight forward as well.

Now I am waiting for rain, LOL. While we were away on vacation the barrel collected some rain but not enough to use yet. So I am hoping I get to use the Fiskars Salsa Rain Barrel System with DiverterPro before the end of the season but if not no big deal I will have it for next year where it will get used for sure.

Need/want a rain barrel for your home? If so you have struck gold because Fiskars is giving one lucky Look What Mom Found…and Dad too! Reader a Fiskars Salsa Rain Barrel System with DiverterPro valued at $149.99.  Go to Fiskars and tell me something you learned about Fiskars or a product you would love to try.

Zuvo Water Purator Review and Giveaway-CLOSED

Water is the #1 drink in our house with coffee #2 for me so it is important to have good clean filtered drinking water. The water in our area tastes terrible and bottle water is way too expensive so we decided to give the Zuvo Under Counter Water Purator a try. So far it is working AWESOME and the water tastes GREAT.

Melinda is very picky on the taste of the water and after I finished installing (will talk about more in a minute) the under counter water purator she was the first person I asked to taste the water. To my surprise she said the water tasted good which is huge because she absolutely hated the water in our house before the Zuvo. We use the Zuvo for drinking water and for coffee in the morning. You’ll be surprised how much different and better your coffee tastes with good filtered water instead of regular tap water.

The Zuvo Water Purator™ uses a patented five-step process to produce clean, healthy, great tasting water…just the way nature intended!

STEP 1: OZONATION

In nature, ozone is generated by lightning and cleans the air where rainwater forms. The Zuvo Water Purator mixes ozone with incoming tap water to treat taste and odor contaminants and improve taste. Like chlorine, ozone is a powerful oxidizer. Unlike chlorine, ozone leaves no chemical residue.

STEP 2: ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT

The ozone saturated water is flooded with high-intensity UV light – the same as the solar energy that cleans water in the upper atmosphere.

STEP 3: PHOTO-OXIDATION

The Zuvo Water Purator combines UV and ozone in a patented process known as photo-oxidation which releases powerful oxidizers to further treat the water.

STEP 4: FILTRATION WITH LEAD REMOVAL

Pure spring water is created by passing through fine particles in the earth. Zuvo uses the same principle by passing water through a Class 1 Particulate Reduction Filter, reducing chlorine taste and odor, lead, and tiny particulates.

STEP 5: POST-FILTRATION UV

The filtered water is again exposed to high-intensity UV light as it leaves the Zuvo Water Purator, ensuring that you get clean, healthy, great tasting water…just the way nature intended!

With the 5 step process used by the Zuvo you can see why Melinda and I see a HUGE difference in our drinking water and I am sure you would also.

Now lets talk about the installation process. The Zuvo Below-Counter Water Filtration System was pretty easy to install. I did run into two slight problems. The first is both models (above-counter and below-counter) need to be plugged in. No outlet for the plug means no clean delicious water for you. So I didn’t notice until half way through the process that I didn’t have a plug under my sink so I needed to drill through the floor in order to get to an outlet in the basement which probably took an extra hour. Also, be sure not to plug your Zuvo into the same plug as your garbage disposal because that means you would need to turn your garbage disposal on to use the Zuvo and that isn’t going to work. The second problem I had was after I was totally done the install and I turned on the water I had a leak. The problem was I didn’t have the fitting that runs to the cold water supply and to the Zuvo tight enough and that was because the piece was plastic and I was afraid to break it due to over tightening. Suggestion here is I wish the fitting was metal or brass but after a turn or two more the leak stopped. Total install time for the under counter model if you have an accessible plug would be an hour or less. We previously had a water system with a butler faucet so I didn’t need to drill a hole for that but if you did maybe another 10 minutes on the hour install time and I am sure I am over estimating.

I am very impressed with the Zuvo so far and the quality of drinking water that is produces. The butler faucet dispenses water a little slowly for me because I am super impatient but maybe that is because the rigorous process the Zuvo puts the water through. It is well worth the few seconds wait for good quality drinking water.  If you want to pick up a Zuvo for your home click HERE to see where you can purchase one.

One lucky winner will win a Zuvo Above-Counter Filtration Sytem worth $300 from Look what Mom Found…and Dad too! Head over to Zuvo and tell me something interesting you found on their site (Be orginial and don’t copy from the entry above you).

Back to School The Children’s Place GC Giveaway-CLOSED

Today was the first day of school for Shaun and last week before we left on vacation we realized Shaun needed some new shorts and khaki pants for vacation and school so we headed over to The Children’s Place.

We have been shopping at The Children’s Place for years. I remember shopping at Children’s Place for Sabreena who is now 14 years old. One of the main reasons we continue to shop at Children’s Place is it’s affordable plus the styles look great. With three kids to buy for we need to stretch our dollar and we are usually able to find sweet deals on clothes at Children’s Place. Melinda and I also like the selection that they offer. Shaun is a pretty basic boy who usually wears shorts or jeans depending on the season and t shirts and long sleeve tees. Children’s Place offers a ton of different t-shirts graphics, jean colors and styles and they even have uniforms for those kids who need them for school. They also offer sneakers, coats, hat, gloves, sleepwear and backpacks. His winter coat has come from Children’s Place for the last couple year and usually lasts as long at it fits

With school back in full swing be sure to check out there clothing line up and fantastic prices on everything you need to send your kids to school in style.  Win a $25 Gift Card to start fall and school shopping. Visit The Children’s Place and tell me one of the “outfits” you particularly like.
