Aloha Friday - Santa Claus

December 4, 2009 23 comments

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday. Head over to An Island Life for more Aloha Friday!!

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants!

My Question is: As a kid do you remember in believing in Santa Claus?  Do you remember your parents telling you that Santa was not real and it was just them putting presents under the tree?

I can honestly say I do not ever remember believing in Santa or my parents telling me he wasn't real I just remember presents.  Maybe I learned Santa wasn't real from kids in school.  Happy Holidays!

    What? He's not real?

LOL, I found out about Santa when my mom forgot to put my easter basket out and I woke up first. She tried to cover but I was too old at the time. Once I realized the Easter Bunny wasn't real I connected them all.

I'm Jewish so I grew up knowing that Santa wasn't real. I do remember, when I was young, asking my father to light a fire in our fireplace just in case he was real and mistook our house for one that celebrated Christmas. I had a weird sense of humor back then too. ;-)

Nope, Santa and the Tooth Fairy were never real in my house.

I remember believing in Santa. In fact, my mom never told he was not real. I just grew up and finally realized it was not true.

I recall believing and I cannot recall when I stopped believing but my parents and I both played along and now I do so with my teens.

I remember believing. And I vividly remember the year I figured out he wasn't real. My sisters and I were extremely horrible a few weeks before Christmas. So my mom said our punishment was no stockings {that was my favorite part about Christmas at that age}...I said some prayers lol. Decided if Santa was real, he'd forgive me because God would forgive me. And I put my stocking out anyway. Woke up to an empty stocking despite my prayers and hopes.

Yes, I believe in Santa when I was a kid. But I learn that he was not real from the kids at school.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.

    Have a nice weekend.

My mom told me from day 1 that he wasn't real. She raised me to celebrate the birth of Jesus instead of gifts. Good thing too, since we were so poor that the church would bring us gifts of clothes every year, and they were marked "from Jesus." Isn't that fun? I actually liked those gifts, believe it or not!

    Have a great weekend!

My parents let me believe until I was old enough to understand, and connect the dots.

It was right before Easter and I was 8 years old. My great grandma had just passed away and we were visiting family for the funeral as it was out of state. I stayed at my aunts house and an older cousin was talking to my aunt about how her son still believed in the Easter Bunny. I sat there mouth agape, silent... they looked at me and realized what they had done. I was the same age as her son... I concluded from there that there was no Santa... nothing... :-(

I believed until I was around 12. My parents would never tell me that! I was the youngest in my family so I was the last to believe in it. Heck, I think my Mom still believes in Santa.

I believed in Santa for a long time, maybe too long. My sister and brother are 8 years and 11 years younger than me, respectively, so I didn't want to ruin it for them either.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

I've always believed in Santa. I knew my parents put presents under the tree, but there was always presents from Santa too. There still is. I call him honey.

We celebrate Santa and Christmas. As far as your question. Teach your beliefs and when your children come home and ask the hard questions, sit them down and tell your beliefs. Explain that other religions and belief systems have their beliefs and they are not wrong just different.

I believed in Santa when I was little.
I'm in my 20's now and my Mom still writes from Santa on our gifts LOL

There is no santa claus in my country. We didn't believe or was not led to believe such.

We didn't get gifts either. That's not a luxury the orphanage can afford.

Oh and we don't have Christmas trees in regular homes in my country..maybe the business places , yes, but not in households.

I do remember believing in Santa as a child. My parents never told me he wasn't real. So I can still believe if I want to.

Yes I remember but it was my "friends" that ruined it for me. Oh well, the magic lives on.
