Where Did All of the Eggos Go?
By now I am sure all of the US and the world for that matter saw on CNN yesterday the article about how Kellogg's will be rationing eggo waffles possibly until the middle of 2010. This is all due to flooding at an Atlanta bakery plus equipment at Kellogg's largest waffle facility, based in Rossville, Tenn., needs extensive repairs. Seriously? WTF!!
My kids are going to starve. Literally. My kids eat waffles so much we buy eggos by the case at our local warehouse club BJ's. They come like 60-70 waffles (not sure of the exact number) in a case. We sometimes have to go to BJ's 1-2 times a month just for waffles. I hope on our next visit they still sell them by the case or else my kids are going to be royally screwed.
How does a company like Kellogg's not have a contingence plan for something like this? So they make all of their waffles at two places only with no other options. I guess not or else this wouldn't have been the news headline of the day yesterday.
That raises another question. Is there no other news in the world more important than a waffle shortage? I have to believe there is so why was this on the top of the headlines. I need to call CNN and get to the bottom of this question because it's sort of bothering me.
Well I guess we have to wait and see what happens with Eggo waffles but I hope this gets fixed soon or I might be minus a kid or two.

I heard about this from Hungry Girl and was very bummed that their whole wheat waffles will be less readily available. Here's hoping to them coming up with a way to kick up the production efforts soon!

That makes me sad. Although, it is a little funny. It's not like they are really THAT important, but the news is so *shocking* to us! LOL! I have a sudden urge to go buy my blueberry waffles! LOL!

I'm glad you posted this. I noticed the Eggo shortage over a month ago at our Stop & shop, but I didn't no wtf was going on. I can't believe it may be another 6 months. My kids eat Eggos everyday too. I've made my own waffles in the past but they refuse to eat them.
And now Stop & Shop has filled in the Eggo section with Aunt Jemima waffles. Sorry, not the same. Not buying them. :)

I didn't see this on Fox News, but my husband told me about it.
My daughter also loves Eggos!

lol...lol...wow.
maybe you are the reason for the shortage...they are just covering it up with a "flood"

That is crazy! I've never heard of such a thing.. you would think it would be a priority that they get this all figured out asap.

While Eggos are good, I'm not sure they are any better or worse than the other brands. I think this will only hurt them when people switch brands!

I'm in the same boat Eggo are my children's favorite to eat. As far as the news did you hear that Libby has a shortage on their canned Pumpkin Pie fillings so stock now while you can.

it's funny to me bc I don't usually care for waffles, but now I'm craving them! my kids are more into the french toast, preferably if they know I've lost sleep n order to wake up earlier to make them from "scratch". *sigh*

I laughed so hard when I read this! I'm heading to BJ's in a couple days. I'll have to check! :D

I seriously couldn't believe this hit the national news.

I couldn't help but laugh when I heard about this on the radio. It's a sure sign that the end is near. The Eggo wars might spark off WWIII.

I heard about this shortage but didn't know anyone personally affected. Sorry for your Eggo-less future!

WOW! I first noticed this over a month ago as well and feel Kellogg needs to get their head out of their ass and not "put all their eggs in one basket" (as my grandmother always says). I really couldn't care less what brand I buy...in fact, I think I prefer Aunt Jemima but I usually buy the store brand. I also believe this will hurt them when customers switch to other brands.

at first I thought this whole shortage was a marketing ploy but now it seems for real. my kids love eggos but will eat other things. our latest is this stuff from whole foods batter blaster. instant organic pancake-waffle mix that comes in a can. real fast and in my opinion better than just cold cereal in the morning.
thank you.
