Melinda and Her Laptop Are Not Friends

November 10, 2009 15 comments

This past Sunday morning Melinda and I were sitting at the kitchen table and she asked me why her laptop was running so slow.  I know that statement alone doesn't seem like a big deal but usually 2-3 times a week Melinda and her laptop have a standoff.  Either a window won't open, a program runs slow or she just has overall difficulty with her laptop.  I am hoping that Melinda and her laptop can find common ground and be friends. Best Friends so I do not have to get involved.

My laptop must be friends with your wife's laptop. When it runs slow it is usually firefox bogging the system. I dislike firefox more then my laptop though. To bad they didn't come in unlimited everything , ram, hd space, etc, etc ...

It's because of the wireless signal. It's spotty at best.

Or it could just be a crappy laptop. Who knows.

Is she running Vista as her OS? Because that's another thing that will do it every time.

    Vista SUCKS.

My husband always thinks it is funny when I am constantly swearing at my computer. I can relate to Melinda's problems.

I've never had a laptop. I wonder if they're as problematic as desktops or more.

LOL! My husband is a computer analyst/programmer, so he inherits all of the computer problems!

I loved my laptop...for years and years and year. Swore up and down I'd never get a desktop. Then, I took my laptop to the Laptop Spa (repair shop), I had completely overloaded that sucker...and they just don't have the memory, or whatever that desktops do.

Long story short, I ate my words and bought a desktop. Eh, well.

Tell Melinda I feel her pain. My husband (love you sweetie) ignores me when I say mine is running slow. LOL Thank goodness that eventually it decides to be my friend eventually

My laptop and I are...well, a poorly matched husband and wife - I put up with it and it puts up with me for the most part :D

My laptop and I have been on the outs a lot lately too...sadly, it's the only computer we have too. I'm afraid...very, very afraid!

I kept seeing Mel & Nora(from "Brothers & Sisters") using the same laptop.

Anyone know what brand it is?

    Thanks in advance

Such is the relationship with computers. It is very much love/hate. You absolutely cannot live without them, but they are never running properly. I feel her pain every day.

Ugh, I've been having exactly the same problems! I'm worried it's almost (don't say it!) time for a new laptop. I just typed that on my current laptop — hope it doesn't take revenge!!
