Holiday Shopping at Borders with $100 GC-CLOSED
Borders has greatly expanded its toy and game offerings in its more than 500 superstores nationwide to include products from leading brands such as Melissa & Doug®, Creativity for Kids®, LEGO Systems, Inc, Playmobil, Scientific Explorer™, Chicco®, Battat®, Blue Orange Games®, ALEX® and many others. The expert buyers at Borders selected many of the toys and games because they play a role in promoting discovery, fostering creativity and helping build cognitive skills in youngsters, all of which are critical to developing good learning and reading habits-and a lifelong love of reading. Importantly, Borders knows that not all customers know what they want to purchase when faced with a variety of toy and game options, so the company is staffing the Children's Department with a dedicated kids' specialist, who can answer questions and make toy, game and book recommendations. (The specialists' hours will vary by store.)
We were recently invited to take a peek at our local Borders location to see the changes that were made. We went as a family and spent over 2 hours reading and playing. Rob and I scoped out the extensive selection of gifts throughout the store and immediately I knew that Borders could easily become someone's One-Stop Shop for the holidays. From music to movies to books to games and even fun finds like cute stationery and arts and crafts kits can be found littered throughout the entire store. It was a bit overwhelming actually because everywhere I turned I saw something new.
We ended up shopping for Shaun and Shae; Up the movie, Dora books, Legos, an adorable Mister Men/Little Miss game and more. We spent close to the $100 gift card that we were supplied and I felt that with the in-store sales going on we did pretty well.
Border's wants you to see the great things they are bringing to the stores. Win one of two $100 gift cards right here at LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! Visit Borders and check out their new Toys and Games section. Let me know what toys and games you played with as a child and why they would be great for today's youth.

I loved playing with musical instruments as a child. From banging pots and pans. To tambourines to bongos. I think it's great for today's youth to get interested in music it helps them enhance their critical thinking skills and their ability to work together as a team. And the more engaged in school they are the less likely they are to drop out.

A lot of the things I played with as a child were either dangerous or decidedly non-educational, but fortunately I spent more time with Legos than with anything else. Legos are great for developing spacial skills and even greater for unlocking the imagination.

I played with Lite Brite, jacks, Barbies. i think that if kids today played with these simpler toys, it would encourage hand eye coordination (jacks), broaden imagination (both Lite Brite and Barbies) and other than the Lite Brite, the other two don't take electricity or batteries and turn them into video playing zombies.

My sister and I had Legos, Tinker Toys, and Lincoln Logs. We loved making and creating things for each other and for our parents. These are toys to have for kids in this day and age of electronics. I know that there are some kids that would look at them and think, "Where is the remote?". My son will be getting Tinker Toys (the older ones..off of eBay) for Christmas from my mom. We also read a lot (we still do, I have 29 brand new books on my shelf to read!!) bekki1820cb@gmail.com

I loved my barbies, cabbage patch dolls and Lite Bright! :) They would be great for today's youth because as long as kids aren't staring into video games all the time things like this are great! purposedrivenlife4you at gmail dot com

When I was a kid we use to play games like Yahtzee, Cat's Eye, Life, Hungry Hungry Hippo, among many others. But one game that us girls use to love to play was Chinese Jump Rope. I wonder if they even sell them anymore. It was so much fun and very challenging. I think any kid would love to play.

My 7yo daughter wants Rush Hour.
I played with dominoes and connect four. Both are good for teaching math, strategy and patience.

Puzzles were always fun for me. I remember once my dad and I pieced together a 1000-piece puzzle and we all felt so good afterwards! we hung it up! puzzles are stimulating for the brain, and are great for any age.

Borders doesn't carry any of the toys I played with as a kid but when I was little I had one of those Fisher Price Televisions that you wind up and it plays songs while the picture rolls across the TV screen, I LOVED it! They actually still have it today. I think it makes a great toy for kids because it introduces them to traditional songs for kids (none of this Lady Gaga stuff off the radio!) and keeps them engaged visually as well!

As a kid, I loved playing with a variety of toys...Fisher Price Little People were big with my sisters and I, but one toy I wish I could find for my own kids was my Texas Instruments Speak and Spell. Does anyone remember that? I played with that thing for hours on end and it really helped me with spelling and reading. I wish they still made them. I think it would be a great educational toy for kids today. I know there are Leap Frog, V Tech, games, etc. but that was a really simple cool toy :D
thanks for the chance to win! Borders rocks.

I played outside (gmaes) alot as a child. I remember that the most. I think kids now days have so much toys and video games that there is not enough outside play! I'm guilty of it my kids are in playing too much!
Thanks so much...this would be super fun!
